Planet Protectors seeks to broaden student environmental
awareness and stewardship through campus-wide
activities emphasizing the three R's – Reduce
– Reuse – Recycle, and introduce one more…Respect.
Planet Protectors challenges you to participate
in teaching our children how to protect our Earth
and conserve our resources. Learn
about green tips for you and your family.
Recycling
Programs:
| Aluminum can recycling |
Drop off rinsed, crushed aluminum cans
in bags labeled with your teacher's name
in the grassy area between the front doors
and flagpole between 7-8am. Turn cans into
cash for the school. The class with the
most cans each month gets recognized in
the morning announcements. |

& ink jet cartridges recycling |
For your convenience, drop these items
inside the front doors in the designated
box. The school receives credits for these
items that can be used to purchase new technology
items. |

Paper recycling |
Drop off school and office papers,
newspaper, magazines, mail and catalogs
in Abitibi
paper dumpster in the north RSE teacher
parking lot. Please do not leave cardboard
or telephone books. Encourage your neighbors
and friends to save their paper and bring
it to our dumpster, so RSE can earn money
for programs. |

| Recycle alkaline batteries |
Bring all of your used batteries to the
recycle box in the front office. For your
convenience Planet Protectors will take
them to be recycled for you. |

| April Paper Drive |
As part of our month-long celebration of Earth Day, Rooster Springs is conducting a paper drive. Our goals are
to fill both of the Paper Retriever® Bins; raise awareness of what types of paper can be recycled through this service; and raise money for our school. |

Tips
Hays County Recycling Center is located at FM
150 & Darden Hill Road (county road 162) PCT
4 YARD, 20290 FM 150 West, Driftwood (512) 858-
9515 Hours are 8 – 4 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,
Friday & Saturday They accept newspaper, magazines,
paper, corrugated cardboard, glass jars &
bottles, plastic bottles #1 & #2, aluminum
cans, tin cans, motor oil, used oil filters and
used anti-freeze. There is no charge for recycling.
Plastics and cans to be recycled are to be rinsed
out and flattened with plastic lids removed. Please
do not leave any trash with recycled materials.
If containers are full, please return the material
later to recycle.
