Planet Protectors: Green Snowman Contest
Coordinator:

Timeframe: December
It’s that time of the year when thoughts of reindeer
and snowball fights start filling our heads. Mother
Nature might not be cooperating, but why should
that stop us from making snowmen in December?
RSE PTA Planet
Protectors is sponsoring a “Green Snowman”
contest and asking everyone to help save our planet
and have a little fun in the process. Every family
is encouraged to make a “green” snowman to put
on display on the lawn in front of the school
in “Snowman Lane.”
What is a “Green” snowman you ask? In lieu of
snow, we’re having a contest for the most creative
use of used, recyclable materials in making your
snowman. This should be a fun family project while
giving you a chance to discuss the principles
of “reduce, reuse, and recycle” with your children.
This activity also provides a wonderful opportunity
to teach children about what items are recyclable
and why it is important for everyone to do their
part to reduce landfill waste and lower our carbon
footprint.
Contest Rules:
1. All materials must be used and recyclable.
Aluminum cans, paper, plastic bottles, etc. are
fair game. Nothing new or non-recyclable should
be included.
2. Include your family’s last name on your snowman.
3. Green Snowmen should be brought to RSE during
morning drop-off on Monday, December 13.
4. Judging will be on Thursday, December 16.
5. Prizes will be sent home with students on Friday,
December 17.
