Classroom Fall Workday
Coordinator:
Timeframe: Saturday, November
6th 9am - 4pm
Join other families for your grade level at
the allotted time, or come when you can:
• 9-10 am – general volunteers
• 10-11 am – Pre-K & Kinder
• 11-12 pm – 1st & 2nd
• 12- 1 pm – 3rd
• 1-2 pm – 4th
• 2-3 – 5th
• 3-4 – general volunteers
There will be plenty of work for everyone, and
we are trying to get this first and most important
step done in one day to allow our children to
begin using the space for planting as soon as
possible.
Several cubic yards of fertile soil will be delivered
on Friday, so we will need the following for the
Saturday workday:
1. Flat bed trailers (and trucks to pull them)
for the hauling off of the "bad" soil
2. Lawn tools, including rakes, shovels, hoes,
breaker bars, and wheelbarrows
3. Corrugated cardboard (shipping and packing
boxes) to be used as a weed barrier underneath
the new soil
4. Volunteers, volunteers, and more volunteers
to remove the bad soil, lay the cardboard, and
distribute the new soil
5. More volunteers to "man" the water
and lemonade distribution for all those who get
thirsty
6. Strong volunteers that can use the breaker
bars to get rid of the stubborn rocks and soil
We are also going to need a place to move (dump)
the "bad" soil. If you have a place
or know of someone who needs filler soil this
would be a perfect use for what we will be removing.
If you can volunteer for any of the allotted times
or can fulfill any of the needs listed above,
please visit the Volunteer
Spot sign-up page.
